Fruit Salad

What does it mean to love as more than two?

Fruit Salad is a series of photographic booklets (‘fruit’), using performative metaphors as a cultural counter to modern media’s almost exclusive focuses on Western pair-bonding practice, and explores the under-represented practice of Polyamory, and my own relationship with it. The work starts as a dismantlement of terminologies and definitions surrounding Polyamory, and culminates in the consumption and embracing of these imperfect definitions on my terms.

The body of work takes inspiration from work that is Iconoclastic in nature, such as Ai Wei Wei, in order to challenge both Polyamory itself and the societal norms that shuns non-monogamous practice. Janet Hardy and Dossie Easton, who wrote extensively about Polyamorous practices were also pivotal to the creation of this piece.
